On 18 December, the Brazil Smart Medical Seminar took place in Rio de Janeiro. During the event, the Sichuan Provincial Administration of Chinese Medicine and the Brazilian Chinese Friendship Association formalised their collaboration in traditional medicine by signing a memorandum.

At the seminar, representatives from China and Brazil, together with experts in Traditional Medicine and Medical Health from both nations, shared successful experiences of co-operation in these fields, highlighting achievements in traditional medicine and intelligent approaches to medical practice.
The event was attended by Henrique Couto da Nobrega, President of the Sino-Brazilian Friendship Association, Xu Yuansheng, Commercial Counsellor of the Consulate General of China in Rio, Claudia Yanuzi, President of the recently created Brazilian Institute of Innovation and Economics, who gave inspiring speeches.
Henrique Couto da Nobrega highlighted the unique approach of traditional Chinese medicine, which integrates psychology, the body and the environment, promoting personalised diagnoses and treatments. He stressed that intelligent medicine does not replace empathy and medical care, but rather strengthens the ability of medical professionals to diagnose more quickly and accurately, humanising and personalising medical care.
Tian Xingjun, director of the Sichuan Provincial Administration of Chinese Medicine, leader of the delegation at the seminar, emphasised that Sichuan is investing trillions of dollars in medical health sectors, boosting economic development. He emphasised the ongoing efforts to combine traditional medicine and information technology in intelligent medical innovation, expressing the desire for cooperation with Brazil to promote the health and well-being of both peoples.
In his speech, Xu Yuansheng emphasised the continued strengthening of Sino-Brazilian cooperation in the area of intelligent medicine, with Chinese medical products and equipment helping to improve health services in Brazil. He also highlighted the Sino-Brazilian Friendship Association's initiative to establish a teaching centre to offer intelligent medical teaching services to Brazilian students.
Claudia Yanuzi, in her speech, expressed the honour of representing the Brazilian Innovation Institute, highlighting the importance of cooperation in smart medicine, smart cities and business services for the sustainable development and innovation of Rio, which will host the G20 summit in 2024.
During the seminar, the memorandum of co-operation in traditional medicine was signed between the Sichuan Provincial Administration of Chinese Medicine and the Brazilian Chinese Friendship Association. Sichuan's leading medical institutions and companies presented the application and prospects of modern intelligent medicine in the field of Chinese medicine. In addition, Chinese and Brazilian experts conducted a free Chinese medicine clinic as part of the cultural experience provided by the event.
