ALERJ launches Brazil-China parliamentary front

The Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) launched the Brazil-China Parliamentary Front on Tuesday (17/10), with the aim of fostering and strengthening cooperative relations between the country and the State of Rio de Janeiro, incorporating this partnership into the actions and initiatives of the Legislative Branch. The ceremony took place in the auditorium of the Rio de Janeiro State Legislative School (Elerj), on the 2nd floor of the Lúcio Costa building, the seat of the Rio de Janeiro State Parliament.

For MP Tia Ju (Rep), president of the collegiate body, it is important to strengthen relations with China in a wide range of sectors.

"We can deepen relations in academia, tourism, operations, research and development. We can bring more technology to Rio de Janeiro's industry and improve agriculture, expanding sustainable agriculture. We are sure that this partnership will bring more technology and innovation to Rio de Janeiro, from health to agribusiness."

Participating in the Brazil-China Parliamentary Front are deputies Samuel Malafaia (PL), Dionísio Lins (PP), Brazão (União), Val Ceasa (Patri), Lucinha (PSD), Dani Monteiro (Psol) and Rosenverg Reis (MDB).

Invited to the launch were China's commercial consul in Brazil, Xu Yuansheng; the president of the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and president of the China-Brazil Business Council, Huang Yehua; the president of the Sino-Brazilian Friendship Association, Henrique Couto da Nóbrega; and the president of the Rio de Janeiro Chamber of Foreign Trade, Adair Roberto Carneiro.
