Alerj Celebrates Chinese New Year and Strengthens Ties Between Brazil and China<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday (06\/02), the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) held a special celebration to mark the arrival of the Chinese New Year. The event, organised by the Brazil-China Parliamentary Front and coordinated by deputy Tia Ju (REP), took place in the historic Tiradentes Palace and highlighted the solid relationship between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Cultural and Diplomatic Celebration<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony was attended by the Consul General of China in Rio de Janeiro, Tian Min, and had a programme rich in cultural events. The public was welcomed with the traditional performance of Chinese dragons and had the opportunity to take part in interactive activities such as shuttlecock games, table tennis and charades, promoting an immersion in Chinese culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2016, Chinese New Year has been part of the official calendar of the state of Rio de Janeiro, as determined by Law 7471, authored by Congresswoman Tia Ju. During her speech, the parliamentarian emphasised the importance of the partnership between Brazil and China and the progress that this relationship has brought to the state of Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"The relationship between Brazil and China has proven to be solid and promising, based on mutual respect, cultural, economic and educational exchange. In the state of Rio, we have been committed to expanding these partnerships, recognising the importance of China as a strategic partner and an example of development, innovation and the preservation of its millenary traditions,\" said Tia Ju.<\/em><\/p>Deputy Tia Ju and Vice-President of ALERJ<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Importance of Chinese New Year<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Chinese New Year is one of the most important celebrations in the Chinese calendar, following a lunar system of 12 cycles totalling approximately 354 days. The period marks a new cycle of renewal and hope and is celebrated with rituals and festivities full of symbolism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consul General Tian Min expressed her gratitude for the recognition of the date in Brazil and reinforced the commitment to deepen bilateral ties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"We hope to continue the friendly exchanges between the nations to a new level, contributing more wisdom and strength to the development of bilateral relations. Distinguished Attendance<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The event was also attended by various authorities and representatives of the Chinese community in Brazil, including Henrique Couto da N\u00f3brega, President of the Sino-Brazilian Friendship Association<\/strong>Chen Bingwen, president of the Chinese Cultural Association; Wang Weiyu, deputy consul general; and Marcelo Felipe Alexandre, undersecretary for energy and the maritime economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The celebration of Chinese New Year at Alerj reaffirms the commitment of the state of Rio de Janeiro to strengthening international cooperation and valuing cultural traditions, promoting dialogue and integration between peoples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
