The Brazil–China Friendship Association welcomed this week the delegation from Zhejiang University, one of Asia’s most prestigious academic institutions, founded in 1897. The group was led by Professor Ye Song, Vice President for Undergraduate Studies, and included faculty members as well as master’s and doctoral students from various fields of knowledge.
During the meeting, the delegation presented data highlighting the institution’s significance: approximately 79,000 students, more than 4,000 professors, an annual research investment of around US$ 1.13 billion, seven university-affiliated hospitals, and over 3,000 registered patents. Zhejiang University consistently ranks among the world’s top 50 universities.
The discussions covered possibilities for exchange programs for students and researchers, as well as the prospect of a visit to the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ). On the occasion, some of the projects developed by the Brazil–China Friendship Association were presented.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Leonardo Rocha, a founding member of the Association and a long-time colleague at UERJ’s Office of the General Counsel.
The Chinese delegation also invited the Association to visit Zhejiang University in the near future, a gesture warmly received and accompanied by a symbolic gift that reinforces the bonds of friendship between Brazil and China.
The Association reaffirms its commitment to turning these dialogues into concrete cooperation agreements, emphasizing that, especially in challenging times, it is essential to build bridges that unite peoples and cultures.
