On the 27th, the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Rio de Janeiro hosted a strategic meeting between Brazilian representatives and a delegation from the Chinese International Centre for Economic and Technical Exchanges. The main aim of the initiative was to strengthen bilateral relations by expanding exchange programmes and technical cooperation.
The Sino-Brazilian Friendship Association, represented by its president Henrique da Nóbrega, actively participated in the meeting, which sought to consolidate partnerships around courses and seminars offered by Chinese institutions to Brazilian professionals. The organisation has been playing a key role in articulating these actions in collaboration with the Chinese consulate, especially in selecting and sending participants.
Between 2023 and 2024, the cooperation has already given judges, members of the Public Prosecutor's Office and civil servants from Brazil the opportunity to immerse themselves in China, broadening their understanding of the Chinese legal system, public policies and culture.
The meeting was also attended by authorities from the State Government of Rio de Janeiro, the State Attorney General's Office and the Rio Municipal Department of Education, demonstrating the growing interest of different spheres of government in international cooperation.
The Chinese delegation was led by the Chinese commercial consul in Rio de Janeiro, Mr Jing Yanhui, and included representatives from the China International Centre for Economic and Technical Exchanges: Ai Yinfang, deputy director-general; Li Kunxian, director of the Exhibitions and Seminars Division; and Wang Rong, an official from the same division.
The Sino-Brazilian Friendship Association thus reaffirms its commitment to promoting constructive dialogue, institutional cooperation and mutual learning between Brazil and China.
